Easter is my Third Favorite Holiday

Hey springtime friends,
When I think of holidays, I tend to choose my favorites based on aesthetic. Halloween has always been my favorite, mostly because it's considered socially acceptable to dress up as pretty much anything you want, and ask complete strangers for candy. Christmas is the obvious second place choice, especially in my house. For the weeks leading up to the 25th, gluten-free baked goods and newly wrapped gifts practically leak out of the windows. I'd say that Easter has to be my third favorite holiday, because the aesthetic of Easter is very brightly colored and pastel.

Decorating

This year, we decorated for Easter on Holy Saturday. It crossed my mind to ask why we were decorating at all, seeing as we arent going to be having guests for an indefinite amount of time, but I figured it helps my Mother stay sane through this craziness. (heaven knows we all need something). I enjoy decorating for easter because the color palette is bright and cheerful. We also have adorable bunny figurines scattered around our house now. I told my Mom that when I'm her age I'll probably have the same obsession with adorable holiday figurines. Wreaths are another one of Mom's favorite things for year-round decorating. We have wreaths for pretty much every holiday.
Once we got the boxes out to take down the Valentine's day decorations, they were thoroughly inspected by our feline box-inspector. She sniffed them and climbed inside to make sure they were sturdy and big enough to hold the wreaths. She's
such a good helper!
Baking

My sisters were put in charge of baking and decorating the desserts for Easter. They worked together to make a beautiful gluten-free cake with graham cracker bunnies on it. They also put together some cake pops shaped like bunnies from a kit that my Grandmother gave to us. Most of our cooking for Easter happens in the morning, when we have Easter Breakfast with Sausage Balls!

Decorating Eggs
On Friday, we decorated eggs. I decided to use acrylic paints to make a small chick and a pink bunny on my eggs. There were also many dye colors to choose from, including a peircing chartruse which (dissapointingly) fades to yellow on the eggshell.
Typically on easter morning, we use our hard-boiled and decorated eggs to have "egg fights". smashing them into each other and seeing which one breaks first. We usually have enough painted hard boiled eggs for leftovers weeks later.
Thats about all the easter prep I participated in, there will be more festivities and shenanigans to come, I'm sure. Hoping to squeeze one or two more holiday blog posts out
before its too late.
Wish me luck babes!
